Frame raising is the most exciting part of the build for all concerned. Once frame raising begins, the oak framed building will begin to reveal itself for the first time, allowing all to see where the workshop hours have gone!
Once the oak frame has been raised completely, the final pegging up can be done and when finished, the culmination of months of hard work is usually accompanied by a ‘topping out’ ceremony. Different people do this in different ways and we have our own unique way of doing it.
The finishing of an oak frame requires the help of other specialised trades and we feel that the client, budget and the build itself benefit enormously when those working on a build, are doing the job that they do best. We recognise our strengths and love nothing more than focusing solely on crafting and constructing oak frames, this is what Sackville Oak Frames do best, so we are more than happy to appoint other specialists for the other elements of the build that are not within our normal remit. Over the years we have built strong working relationships with some truly great contractors and skilled craftsmen.
Putting the right people on a build project saves time and money, although project management may initially seem daunting and while some clients prefer to have one contractor handle the entire build, it is our belief, that a great team of professionals need little management. Some of the best results come from collaboration.
Our network of highly skilled craftsmen include; general builders, roofers, lead-workers, flint-knapper’s, thatcher’s, joiners, cabinetmakers and blacksmiths – all of whom we would thoroughly recommend and always enjoy working with.
