Sackville Oak Frames - Oak Framed Garage

DETAIL:

  • We were commissioned to design and build a three bay garage with a first floor room, accessed via an external oak staircase
  • All three bays have oak garage doors and are secure.

THE BRIEF:

To build an oak frame garage that would provide a suitable workspace and storage for several vintage cars. It had to be secure and designed to the clients’ workshop requirements. The first floor was to provide some extra storage/ workspace

THE FRAME:

The frame is green oak throughout to principal rafters with a softwood rafter roof over. The green oak frame carries softwood floor joists for the first floor that are integrated within the main oak top wall plates. The garage is clad externally with oak featheredge boarding with oak soffits and facias. The oak staircase on the end elevation is fabricated from air-dried oak and treated with teak oil.

The garage doors are framed ledger and brace doors made from air-dried oak and swung on strap hinges.

*Frame cost as of 2015
